Enjoy the peace and quiet
and escape from everyday life in our wellness area
The Hotel Schönau is a small hotel outside the hustle and bustle of the city. We want our guests to feel at home. That's why we have created a small wellness area for you to relax a little after a busy day.
Our small wellness oasis offers you a Finnish sauna (80 to 95° C), a steam sauna (50 to 65° C) and an infrared cabin. Afterwards you can use a waterfall shower in our wet room, pour cold water over parts of your body and shower. There are 5 loungers available in the relaxation room. You also have the opportunity to work out in the fitness room on three different machines (treadmill, cross trainer and bike trainer)
Our sauna is open for you
You can take a sauna from Wednesday to Sunday from 16:00 to 20:00 for an extra charge of € 15.00 per person. Please understand that we cannot switch on the sauna on Monday and Tuesday for safety reasons, as we are closed on these days. Please register early (by 14:00 on the same day at the latest) as the sauna is only switched on on request. Bathrobes are available at reception if required. Sauna towels can be found in the sauna area.
Finnish sauna
The alternating bath between heat and cold is the ideal combination of rest and relaxation, paired with an increase in the body's defences, circulation training, body care and bathing fun. Regular sauna sessions provide us with the best possible protection against viruses and thus against colds and flu. A sauna session raises the temperature of the organs and increases the production of antibodies in the blood. The body trains itself to react correctly to external influences such as changes in weather or extreme temperature changes.
Facts:
- Temperature: 80 – 95° C
- Humidity up to max. 20 % rH
- Length of stay: approx. 8 – 12 minutes, max. 15 minutes
Steam sauna
The steam sauna is a special variant of the classic sauna. The ancient Romans already appreciated the beneficial effect of a steam-filled room on body and mind. Over time, different versions and variations of the original concept have emerged. Compared to the conventional Finnish sauna, which can reach temperatures of up to 95° C, the steam sauna is very mild and well tolerated, making it particularly suitable for beginners.
Facts:
- Temperature: 40 – 60° C
- Humidity up to max. 45 % rH
- Length of stay: approx. 10 – 20 minutes
Infrared cabin
Heat is one of the oldest human remedies. In an infrared cabin, heat is transferred to the body directly and without contact via infrared radiation. It is the same principle as we know it from the sun. The heat is absorbed by the skin and transferred directly to the underlying layers. In this way, it reaches the bloodstream and the inside of the body, triggering a process whose positive effects are undisputed. In addition to detoxification, the result is soothing relaxation, a sense of well-being for body and mind and a strengthening of the body's defences. Heat treatments have been used for thousands of years. This contributes enormously to improving mental well-being and activating the body's self-healing powers. However, they are no substitute for a doctor or any necessary therapy. Our infrared heat cabin is a good alternative for anyone who finds saunas hot.
Facts:
- Temperature 35 – 45° C
- Length of stay: max. 20 minutes
Relaxation room
A visit to the sauna, steam sauna or infrared cabin also includes relaxing in the relaxation room. Between sauna sessions, you can make yourself really comfortable on the cosy loungers in our relaxation room, take a nap or read a good book. The pleasant warmth and tranquillity in these beautiful rooms contribute greatly to your well-being.
